Urban Infill

This urban infill is set on Laurel Island in Charleston, SC. The city proposed a new section to be built that would be able to expand the resident population. We were tasked with making a counter proposal as well as a civic structure of interest. I chose a Marketplace.

The Market:

A central building that could fill a need as a main grocery, retail, or general store for those in the immediate neighborhoods. The design uses a mixture of Classical and Art Nouveau Architecture and is built where the old munitions port was on the island.
